MWCS, the influential international industrial event in the Asia-Pacific region—the 2020 CNC Machine Tool & Metalworking Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "MWCS") and the 2020 Industrial Automation Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "IAS")—grandly opened today at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
The influential international industrial event in the Asia-Pacific region—the 2020 CNC Machine Tools and Metalworking Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "MWCS") and the 2020 Industrial Automation Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "IAS")—grandly opened today at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Although the COVID-19 epidemic has affected various industries, the demand of enterprises to use platforms for display and trade remains unabated. This year, the number of exhibitors at the two exhibitions exceeded 400 and 600 respectively, with a total exhibition area of 116,000 square meters.
MWCS 2020 and IAS 2020 are core professional exhibitions under the 22nd China International Industry Fair (hereinafter referred to as "CIIF"). As the first national industrial exhibition held under the normalized epidemic prevention and control this year, this year's CIIF has set up nine professional exhibition areas, including MWCS and IAS, with an exhibition area of 245,000 square meters, more than 2,000 exhibiting companies, and an estimated more than 180,000 professional visitors.
Chen Mingbo, executive vice secretary-general of the CIIF Organizing Committee and vice secretary-general of the Shanghai Municipal Government, said that under the special background of epidemic prevention and control, the successful convening of the CIIF will demonstrate to the world the remarkable achievements made by Shanghai in coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, which is of great significance to further boosting confidence in the industrial economy, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and contributing to global economic recovery.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in July, China's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 51.1%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, and has been above the critical point for five consecutive months. Liu Guoliang, managing director of Hannover Milan Exhibition (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., said: "The current PMI index in China has released a positive signal, indicating that the prosperity of the manufacturing industry will continue to rise. As highly influential international industrial platforms, MWCS and IAS will also play a positive role in promoting the accelerated digital transformation of the post-epidemic industrial economy, driving changes in industrial models and enterprise forms, and providing important opportunities for global industrial development."
As a large-scale international metalworking exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, MWCS brings together the entire sheet metal industry chain and has built an Asian-level centralized platform for new product launches. This exhibition covers the 3H, 4.1H and 1/2 2.1H exhibition halls of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), with an exhibition area of 60,000 square meters. It has attracted more than 400 top domestic and foreign enterprises, including Trumpf, Bystronic, Prima Power, Salvagnini, Mitsubishi, Murata, Dajiang, Yawei, Huagong, Prima Power, Lingchuang, Aike, Bystronic, Hongshan, Ruitie, Haimuxing, Benteng Chutian, Jinaolan, Chongli, Aixir, Jinqiang, Apache, Precitech, Ruiko, Chuangxin, Lima, Wenla, Steber, Hengjia, Siegmund, Atlan, Chenlong and Chuang Heng, etc. The products displayed on site cover various sheet metal processes such as feeding, forming, automation, welding, surface treatment, and assembly. Among them, Trumpf, Bystronic, Mitsubishi, and IPG all made a grand debut with laser processing equipment launched for the first time in China; Aike's ELITE all-electric bending machine made its global debut on site; Dajiang Group made a grand appearance with all its business units this year, with an exhibition area of more than 1,300 square meters, becoming the largest exhibitor at this MWCS exhibition. The latest technologies and solutions brought by many high-quality exhibitors will "one-stop" solve the transformation problems of sheet metal processing in terms of interconnection, automation, flexibility, and digitalization.
This year's MWCS will also hold the "Hai Zhi Online X 22nd CIIF Industrial Parts Procurement and Supply Matching Conference Shanghai Main Venue" and the "Shanghai VIP Sub-venue + Procurement Matching". The conference organizers have invited procurement heads of well-known enterprises and manufacturing industry experts to share their themes, enabling participating suppliers to obtain the latest industry information while accurately and efficiently matching procurement projects. The "2020 Metal Cutting High-level Forum" will also be held during the exhibition, discussing the development trends and latest technology sharing of the metal cutting industry. In addition to offline conferences, MWCS 2020 will also hold the online "2020 Baidu Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Innovation Forum". Baidu, a leading artificial intelligence platform, will join hands with MWCS to launch the "Intelligent Power—Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Innovation Forum", focusing on the innovative empowerment of artificial intelligence to large manufacturing industries under the background of new infrastructure, and the transformation of traditional manufacturing industries to the field of intelligent manufacturing and other hot topics.
With a new round of industrial upgrading and intelligent transformation in full swing, as an Asian barometer of advanced manufacturing development, IAS closely follows the new trends in industrial development and fully demonstrates international advanced manufacturing technologies. This year's IAS is located in the 5.1H and 6.1H exhibition halls of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), with an exhibition area of 56,000 square meters, focusing on industrial automation (production and process automation), microsystem technology, electrical systems, industrial automation information technology and software.
This year's IAS has gathered more than 600 leading industry enterprises, including Siemens, Phoenix, Beckhoff, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider, Festo, ifm, SMC, Delta, Autonics, Rittal, Balluff, Weidmüller, Wago, IKE, Pepperl+Fuchs, Inovance, CODESYS, Pilz, Leeson, Anpu Mingzhi, Schmersal, Schmersal, Kejie Intelligent, Liyuanheng, Chingyang, Muller Electronics, Baumer, Likong Technology, Elmo, Roller, HIWIN, Keyence, Wien and Hongfa. Among them, well-known exhibitors Beckhoff, Elmo, Wago, and Pepperl+Fuchs all brought new product launches. Beckhoff's TwinCAT Vision software integrates complete image processing functions into PC-based control systems, eliminating the need for independent vision solutions developed by third parties. Elmo's latest Platinum Maestro motion controller uses a holistic advanced computing multi-core system, significantly improving its motion control capabilities, connectivity, and performance. Wago showcased its new WAGO I/O System Field, a modular device specifically designed for the future of automation and networking. Pepperl+Fuchs brought its latest complete IO-Link solution—Reduction factor 1 sensors.
Various themed activities will also be presented during the exhibition, including: Shanghai Automation Society Academic Annual Meeting, 19th MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Development and Application Seminar, 16th MM·New Automation Forum, OPC Seminar—Industrial Internet and OPC UA, 2020 Zhihui Shanghai·Innovation Leading—Digital Solution Forum and the 2nd Industrial "Intelligent+" Innovation Competition, 5G and Intelligent Interconnection to Promote Industrial 4.0 Industry Development Themed Forum, Festo Media Meeting, etc.
